My prediction. SSB4 and MK8 will push WiiU hardware sales to around 3 million units. If the Xbone releases without Kinect and drops the price below PS4, then and only then, you will see it as a threat to WiiU's second place holding. Nintendo isn't alone on the media doom and gloom, as Xbone is getting a similar rap being compared inferior to the PS4. The WiiU will continue to hold 2nd until Xbone prices itself competitivly. Next year may become the battle over 2nd place. Also, I don't see Xbone holding a long lifespan until developers actually push that 1080p/60fps and stand on level playing field with PS4.
So, this Christmas, WiiU will hold 2nd. It also depends on the software offerings in 2015.
