first of all, i would like to thank you for actually explaining in detail at what point you thought that took place. out of the five or six people who tried to answer that question, you and one other user bothered to actually give any sort of explanation.

i believe if they had made changes to how they advertised the wii u post e3 2012, things could be very much different right now. lets be realistic here, as it stands, the wii u has the best games out of the three. that is a huge advantage, and that doesnt seem to be something that is going to change any time soon. if they could have shown people why they need a wii u, why they want a wii u, there is no reason why it shouldnt be millions ahead of ps4 right now. sony's success with ps4 right now rests with how they have communicated with the public, and i believe that if nintendo were more aggressive with their marketing as sony has been, there is no reason that right now they could have been a very dominant force.

Certainly, if Nintendo had been able to communicate why people should want their new console, then they would be millions ahead of the PS4 at this point. But this goes back to the root cause which is the Wii U itself. By making a console like the Wii U, Nintendo communicated all the reasons why people should not want a new Nintendo console. Like I said, the Wii U defied pretty much everything the Wii stood for.

Where the Wii prioritized accessibility and inclusivity with the design of the Wii Remote, the Wii U went for the opposite with the Gamepad that was dubbed as the swiss army knife of video game controllers, topped off with a speech about how important the hardcore gamer is. Where the Wii prioritized unique games, the Wii U's message was that it's going to have the same games as everyone else. Where the Wii tried to reach a broader audience with new IPs like Wii Sports, the Wii U relied on sequels.

People liked the Wii. You take a glance at the Wii Remote and the Wii U Gamepad, and can instantly tell that the Gamepad is not an evolution of the thing that people liked. The Wii U gets written off as a system that people aren't interested in. Nintendo puts out great games, but that doesn't matter at that point anymore, because people don't want to use the Gamepad.

i guess you dont agree, but i feel like the gamepad is an incredible advancement in gaming. have you not spent much time thinking about how much better gamees could be, or what new kinds of games that could be created? and just because nintendo created a console like the wii u doesnt mean it has to rely on sequels. wii u is the ONLY console that is capable of making unique games. the fact that the wii u is the console that they created doesnt seal their fate in the slightest. it seems more like nintendo has no idea what to do with the damn thing, which is very odd to me. it seems obvious how to make this console seem desirable in the eyes of the consumer.
