No, I meant it is already clear that it will finish in third place. The point in time that determined that outcome was in the past, so it's not going to be in the future.

and at what point in the past was that?

E3 2011, when Nintendo announced that they will defy pretty much everything that the Wii was. Then E3 2012 cemented it, because it showed that Nintendo's "we are going to rely on third parties" strategy would backfire hard.

The only glimmer of hope that Nintendo wouldn't finish in third place was the Xbox One reveal, because it looked like Microsoft was even more determined to self-destruct.

first of all, i would like to thank you for actually explaining in detail at what point you thought that took place. out of the five or six people who tried to answer that question, you and one other user bothered to actually give any sort of explanation.

i believe if they had made changes to how they advertised the wii u post e3 2012, things could be very much different right now. lets be realistic here, as it stands, the wii u has the best games out of the three. that is a huge advantage, and that doesnt seem to be something that is going to change any time soon. if they could have shown people why they need a wii u, why they want a wii u, there is no reason why it shouldnt be millions ahead of ps4 right now. sony's success with ps4 right now rests with how they have communicated with the public, and i believe that if nintendo were more aggressive with their marketing as sony has been, there is no reason that right now they could have been a very dominant force.
