You missed the joke (or didn't). It would be called the pre-sequel like Borderlands new game. More 1.5 than 3 but seriously they should be almost done their new engine. We can expect something from them in the upcoming years. It just feels like they are no more interested in making single player only games. Sure they did Portal 2 but they also released tools; so community can keep on making testing chambers as never ending dlc. They'll do it when they can figure out something similar for Half Life.
