@Chrizum: No, platinium doens't mean anything specific in itself. It can be associated with a million number sold but also can be associated with any other number. For example for ELSPA (UK games awards) Platinium means 300k sold. But generally it's arbitrary number and platinium doens't mean anything more than "good-seller" unless it's in a specific context (like ELSPA awards).
