The bottom line is Nintendo is selling less hardware and less software. Sony is virtually irrelevant at this point.
So attach rate really is of small comfort to either one, they're both making less money from this market, that's just the bottom line.
Attach rate probably figures to be higher this gen too because it's much harder to pirate 3DS/Vita software, by this time in the DS/PSP's life cycle both had rampant piracy.
Another concerning trend for the 3DS is its software sales were actually down last year, even with Pokemon X/Y.
