A friend of mine was in a fairly dangerous car accident once when his girlfriend swerved to avoid a raccoon on the road and rolled the car. They both escaped unharmed.
When we asked him if the raccoon got away, he replied. "Nope, it's dead"
"aww shucks" we collectively sighed. "All that and you didn't even avoid him"
"oh no" he said, "we avoided the raccoon. But it was already dead."
So cheer up. At least you didn't total your car and almost kill yourself over a dead raccoon in the road!
