I don't understand complaints about the roster. It's by far the largest and most diverse in the series. The IGN reviewer's complaints are particularly baffling, as he criticizes the large collection of babies for being too similar to their non-baby counterparts, yet offers Dry Bones (literally a palette swap of the already-playable Koopa Troopa) as a suggested alternative. At least the babies are in a different weight class from their adult forms, meaning they handle differently.

This is sort of a recurring trend: people criticizing the character selection, but suggesting few good alternatives. The only major cuts from previous entries are Birdo, Diddy Kong, and Bowser Jr. I swear nobody cared one bit about these characters until they were taken away. 3-5 years ago I remember lots of complaints about Bowser Jr being overused and the Koopaligs being in need of a comeback. Now Jr is axed in favor of ALL SEVEN Koopa Kids and people are whining about Bowser's eighth subordinate being cut?

Gamers have the shortest memory spans I've ever seen. All these great newcomers and they find a way to be dissatisfied. I guess they forgot that last time around our newcomers were Honey Queen and Wiggler.

Whut? Honey Queen n Wiggler >>>>> Baby Rosalina and Pink Gold Peach! While the roster may be the biggest, it's still less diverse than Mario Kart Wii, as instead of unique and staple franchise characters like Birdo, Diddy Kong, and King Boo, you get a bunch of turtles and reskins. I agree though that the roster is not something to knock the game for, especially when only one other Mario Kart game had a better roster imo.
