they didnt... yet.

PS3 sure did.

I'd say early ps3 owners got the goose that laid the golden egg actually.

was that golden egg the $100 price drop in less than a year?  Or the less reliable hardware?  Or lack of games available early on?  Early adopters always get screwed in one way or another.  Early adopters paid for the ps3 paid $300 more than what most people paid for their ps3's.  Heck, by the end of this year there will probably be a version of the ps4 that will come with a bigger hard drive and a game or will be cheaper or something like that.  That is obviously a better deal than the early adopters got.

The argument is it is worth the extra money to have more playing time with the new console and being able to play the new games when they come out.  However, you will always pay more for less reliable hardware and a smaller game library by buying early on as well.  So it just depends on what you value more, being able to play games in the new generation as soon as they come out (even though most the games that come out are also available on old generation hardware)  or getting a better bang for your buck.

Price drop due to removing BC. BC was the goose at the time. I sold my BC ps3 for $400 and bought a slim for $300... so yeah.
