There is a difference between being conservative and lowballing. Of course they can sell more but it will still be within the same area of their forecasts. Look at the Ps4. Sony expected 5m. They saw all the signs of a smash hit months before launch. Huge pre-orders and lots of buzz. They had record launch sales and sustained sales for months... yet they were only able to produce 40% more than expected. Nintendo is already 2months in the new year with still lower than expected sales. They aren't increasing production because there are no signs in needing to do so. They probably wont even increase it immediatly if MK8 shows more demand than expected because thats a good way of loosing lots of money if it proves to be temporary.

all i meant by lowball is that they feel its possible to surpass that number, i may have used the word incorrectly tho.
