They're lowballing. It'll be over 10 million, probably on the way to 12 by mid-2015, thanks to Mario Kart, Smash Bros., and the by-then upcoming Zelda, likely a new Animal Crossing, etc.

They're lowballing on purpose so that it looks better when they surpass it.
