GC's controller was far from standard. Hell, the Wii U gamepad is more standard than it was, so I don't see your complaint there.

I actually kind of agree with your other points, though. From the looks of things, Nintendo's first party output this gen actually will be less than it was for the GC, and third party support is already even more dismal than GC's as well.

I still can't understand how Ninty could launch the Gamecube at such a ridiculously low price without taking major losses. Whatever their secret was, they clearly forgot it with the Wii U - they're definitely asking for a lot of dough for what you get.

- Four face buttons CHECK

- Two analogue sticks CHECK

- DPad CHECK

- Shoulder buttons CHECK

It was not far from standard. The ONLY difference was that it had only 3 shoulder buttons versus 4 on PS2 and XBox. Just cause the buttons are shaped a little differently doesn't change the nuber of inputs and where they are located at all.

Yes. 3 shoulder buttons as opposed to four, and weirdly placed and shaped buttons that made it impossible to do some fighting game combos. Also, non-clickable thumbsticks.

The Wii U Gaamepad, on the other hand, has four shoulder buttons, standard button placement, clickable thumbsticks, and everything else you could expect from a modern videogame controller. Literally the ONLY thing that sets it apart is the screen in the middle, which doesn't actually interfere with any of your other controls.
