I think honestly with the Wii U userbase being so small, whittling down the software to a very small number of high quality games is the best way to go (sorta like the N64).

That way those games at least have a chance to sell. Then again that didn't seem to matter much for Wonderful 101 and even DKC didn't exactly tear things up.
