How i Met Your Mothers ending was utter S**t (spoilers obviously)

Which makes perfect sense being that he met the mother because robin was getting married...

Then why couldnt he start at robins wedding?  His kids knew who robin was.  He was telling them a story about Robin because he realized that he still loved her.  The story was more about Ted telling his kids that he actually loved two women in his life, and he was fishing around to see if they how they felt about him getting back together with Robin.  The whole series was about ted and robin.  The mother was more of an afterthought for a reason.  Even the last season served to show how ted was a better fit for robin than barney.  

 

Actually the show started with Lily and Marshel. and he explains why he started with the day they got engaged, he says he knows how they met his mother, but this is him telling them how he became the man he was when he met their mother, his whole story. he also explains why he is saying this in season two i believe when teds parents meet robin, when he figures out that they were divoriced he tells them how he will tell his kids everything, and how he will tell his kids his whole story. 

so yeah, they show actually started with lily and marshel, and how they got engaged had woken up ted to realize that he always wanted that and its time to be serious.
