How i Met Your Mothers ending was utter S**t (spoilers obviously)

I did read up on the ending since I was always curious as to who the mother actually was. But yeah the mother dying is just a horrible ending. I always imagined that at some point they'd introduce the mother and they would make a season or two about Ted and their mother getting married until finally ending it with a nice happy ending. But I guess that wasn't meant to be.

They couldn't do that even if they wanted to. The title wouldn't make sense.

For the majority of the 6 seasons I remember watching, most of it had nothing to do with him meeting the mother, but rather just telling the story of the 5 main characters. So I don't see how actually having Ted meet the mother and tell the story of getting married to her would not make sense by any means. To me that was the whole point of the friggin show, waiting patiently until the climax where I'd get to see their father and mother get together.
