According to this site Donkey Kong tropical Freeze sold 197 thousan units in its first week (I think it was released a Friday, like Mario Kart 8 will) the numbers are correct for USA +108.000 and Japan +35.000 for sure (npd and mediacreate famitsu)
I guess Mario Kart 8 could sell easily 3 times that, and should sell as much as in its first week 2 or 3 weeks in december.
