I can't be the only person that thinks that Sony/MS probably realize that people doing things other than gaming on their consoles isn't that profitable. Now that PS+/XBLG are de-facto required for online play, the only extra revenue they can get is by charging per use for non-gaming stuff (movie/music/tv show licensing for individual downloads, or a subscription based service).
Still, that's peanuts compared to someone buying even one major release a month. If people game less and derp around watching TV more, that's a net loss.
