I don't think their ideas are bad, it's just that I don't get why they're trying to merge this with the Xbox. If you're not interested in gaming you'll be paying too much for the hardware and if you are interested in gaming you might find this whole television thing useless and you'll buy a cheaper PS4. Did you ignore the entire last generation? Xbox 360 led the way in bringing things like Netflix/HBO Go to consoles, and every person I know that has one uses it for watching shows in addition to gaming. To think that consumers are so singularly focused is to completely ignore the last 10 years. Even Wii's were used to watch Netflix, despite it being the worst platform to do it on.
Consoles are now multimedia hubs, that's how they are viewed.
