Why would people use those other devices.  I cut my cable box because the PS3 and 360 provide the on demand apps I need.  Consuming TV shows and movies on the PC/Laptop/Tablet is for bit size on the road scenerio.  I highly doubt people who watch their main shows use those devices when they have a console connected to their TV.  Also not everyone has a smart TV that has apps.  I do not and I do not play on buying a new TV until the ones I have no longer work.  From my understanding people do not replace TVs unless there is such a superios option or their current one break down.

I dunno, ask one of the...

Rank Provider № of Subscribers
1. Comcast 21,690,000[19]
2. Time Warner Cable 11,197,000[20]
3. AT&T U-verse 5,266,000
4. Verizon FiOS 5,170,000
5. Cox Communications 4,540,280
6. Charter Communications 4,158,000
7. Cablevision 3,197,000
8. Bright House Networks 2,013,145
9. Suddenlink Communications 1,211,200
10. Mediacom 1,000,000

59+ million cable box subscribers in the US alone..

Netflix and similar isnt needed if you have the channels for the programs you follow subscribed for on your cable box, and depending on how old/ghetto the box is, you are more than likely going to have the capability of recording said shows to your cable box.

elsewhere, ask a brit what they watch tv shows on more.. actual tv programming or apps on their games console.

Annnd... last but not least.. what do you think the IR blaster on the xbox one controls?, go on, i'll let you guess.
