But why does it need to be live? If the problem is exposure, that's something you need to negotiate with content distributors.

The only thing you need to negotiate is with press and their seat at the live conference. You can have demos at best buy like last year. How that worked? I still see low sales for Wii U, and you know why? because the press killed the Wii U calling an add-on, no games, less powerful, skiped E3, etc.

Just look at the video they have announced. It's good right? Now, how many of the people outside of the forums will watch? I tell you: nobody. They need to market, and presentation and percepcion is marketing.

The organization behind E3 is going to market the conferences more than anything else. And Nintendo is not going to be there because they don't have one. Imagine I'm a mainstream guy who bought a Wii Fit and don't enter to forums, therefore I never hear about NIntendo directs. The newspaper decided to give a column for E3, a small one, and I only read about boring conferences for Sony and MSFT. Where's Nintendo? I read about the Wii, the Wii Fit, Wii Sports, Resorts, Wii Play. But now?

That's the press. And it's better to be at their side even if they are the worst worms ever.

Nintendo have the power to try this at the Wii/DS era. Not now that they are struggling.
