This is more about eschewing the traditional setting where all the press are anyway and expecting them to give your upstart, exclusive presentation the same exposure. Even if they mention this in their E3 articles, ti will get weird: 'Meanwhile, Nintendo did their own online streaming presentation after the conference and announced new games X, Y, Z.' It won't sound, to normal people, like Nintendo is really participating. It's subtle, but I still think with their backs against the wall Nintendo needs to do BOTH.
