Arrogance cannot be prevented. All you can argue is that you can lower the risk for it to materialize, but even that has no reliable method as the Xbox One DRM debacle proves. The planned removal of all game ownership is probably the most arrogant act ever in video games history and it came from a company that was in a non-dominant position.

That wasn't just from Microsoft though, it was strongly supported by dominant third parties.
