Griffin, how the hell do motion controls inhibit control of a game when it adds a million and one (exaggeration, don't take seriously!) new possibilities in how to play a game? You've proven in your posts that your idea of innovation in gaming comes from the hardware (Graphics? Wireless?) and not the games themselves or the gaming input methods. Would you rather still be playing with an old NES pad with 2 face buttons and nothing else? Was that a gimmick as well?

Everything Onimusha12 said was correct, there's only one company that's actually constantly evolved throughout the generations of gaming and that IS Nintendo (well, not excluding Sega as well). Nintendo innovates, Sony (and it may seem MS as well) copies. Before you jump on your high horse there is only ONE exception to this and that is the introduction of Optical Media is the storage medium, but go back to your history books and remember that that WAS going to be a joint venture with Nintendo / Philips / Sony.

You can bet your ass the next generation of consoles will have the next step up in motion controls from Sony and MS, and it's because of what Nintendo have done THIS generation. Meanwhile what 'gimmick' will Nintendo be working on next? They've done (more) buttons, they've done analogue, they've done touch, they're doing motion right now, what next?

Face it - Wii = Not a fad / gimmick.

As for the topic, if the Wii did flop then I'd be seriously losing my (already slowly dropping) faith in gaming or the people that play games for letting such innovation die whilst Sony and MS shove more polygons and multimedia functions down their throats.

Gaming NEEDS Nintendo.
