Hmmm... I think you are confusing Japan Studio with SCEJ the publisher. As far as RPGs, I think Japan Studio has only Legend of Dragoon to its name prior to this gen's collaborations on WKC and Demon's Souls.
Where Sony has really fallen down is on the publisher front. They used to pick up a lot of great Japanese games, but since the PS3's early life struggles and their ensuing financial problems that has largely stopped. Not coincidentally, a lot of their old partners seem to be either very chummy with Nintendo now (Level-5), primarily mobile focused, or out of business altogether.
