Bite the bullet and drop the gamepad for Wii U, allowing for a sizable price drop to enter mass-market territory and make the thing per-unit profitable. Build a Wii U successor with a Wii-like mentality where we completely ignore industry standards and go our own way (partnership with Google for Droid OS, though).

So since the OS requires the Gamepad, and nearly every game is integrated to use it, how are you going to handle the fact that most of the software will now no longer be compatible? How are you going to market that?

Relabel some older games "Gamepad Required", keep the premium model with a Gamepad, salvage some of them (and rewire the OS) with free patches.

It wouldn't be pretty, but it's not meant to be.
