There sure is a lot of what could be considered whining, but mostly is just expressing lack of trust in the tracking method. Because, even though we have to give credit to all the effort puti nto this website and into obtaining sales figures, margin of error of 20% is just unacceptable.
Sure, NPD has a margin of error, but judging by their numbers and the trust that is put into their figures, one can assume that the margin of error is a standard statistical 2-3%. 20% error can easily be achieved without tracking, just by making educated guesses.
Heck, here: http://gamrconnect.vgchartz.com/thread.php?id=181370&page=1 in a prediction thread made by 26 users and their educated guesses, only 7 had a worse margin of error for the PS4 prediction.
I personally came to this site years ago drawn here by the numbers and stats, but have since stayed only because of the community, there are a lot of great people here posting in the forums, and most of the time discussions are handled in an educated and civil manner. But I've learned not to pay attention to VGC figures, the site is very useful in following other trackers and discussing their figures containing much narrower error margins.
