At this point in its life Gamecube had been $149 for nearly a year while Wi U has been $299 since launch plus Gamecube had a bigger selection of big hitter first party games. By now it already had Mario, Smash Bros, Luigi's Mansion, Zelda, Animal Crossing, Metroid Prime, Star Fox, Pikmin while Wii U has 2 Marios, Donkey Kong, Pikmin and a Zelda remake (not gonna count Wii Series since that market is long gone).

Basically it has a shot with price reductions and more big first party titles, i wouldnt be surprised if it passes Gamecube but at the same time i wouldnt be surprised if it fails to do so either.
