Let's say you now run Nintendo. How would you go abour righting the ship?

1) Create an account system. I absolutely refuse to spend a single dime on the eShop as long as games are tied to a console. This way you'd allow cross-buy with 3DS which you could advertise.

2) Create a "trophy" system like Nintendo Stars or whatever.

3) Release an open-world RPG in the Pokemon series where the GamePad is your PokeDex, you select you Pokemons with it, "shove" them to battle, etc. This way you could actually advertise the damn thing and show people that it is worth something!

4) Drop the bloody price of the Wii U! The console just isn't worth the price!! $80 is the perfect cut.

Unlike what you say, I'd stick to Wii U and try to turn it around. I think it would be easier than releasing a new console and starting to fight with a rampaging PS4 again, which can kill you just like it killed SEGA. The console isn't losing because it's bad. It suffers because it's too expensive for what it offers and has no games that the core audience is interested in, while the casuals have left for smartphones and tablets.
Cut $80 (maybe redesign to make it cheaper?), release the open-world Pokemon, a realistic Zelda, Metroid Prime, continue porting core GCN/Wii games and keep pushing indies. Nintendo also has to enter all the important markets! How can it be possible, that there is no Nintendo Poland? I haven't seen a Wii U on a shelf of any store around here! They have to be avaible at least in all EU countries. They should also hire small teams of people in each country that would travel around the country with a couple Wii U's to malls/events in which they could show the Wii U to gamers/parents. Follow what election experts tell you - a handshake is worth more than a TV spot.


When it comes to 3DS - it is starting to lose to Vita in Japan! That can't be good for it. They have to start thinking about a new console that would be slightly more powerful than Vita, while still being cheap and profitable at the same time. I should come out in 1.5-2 years.
