For me it only matters if I enjoy a game or not. So if some game with Day 1 DLC entertains me for 20 hours or so, I'm fine with that. But if a game only gives you a 4 hour campaign, I'm pissed, even if there is no DLC.
DLC is just the new way of distributing Add Ons and those have been around since forever. Console gamers had to get used to it, because apart from some exceptions, there weren't Add Ons for consoles back in the day. But in the end, there is good DLC and there is bad DLC. You just have to figure out for yourself what you like and what not and of course if you're willing to spend any money on it.
I miss the good old times of map editors though... Not only because Counter-Strike Maps were free, but also because custom maps were just so creative. Anybody remembers Aldi 2k or Rats? Fucking awesome!
