Now with XY, we still get that very incremental sense of progression. I'm going to just flat out say it. 1.Why doesn't the game look like Dragon Quest 8? Why are we still using this ancient grid based overhead system? 2.Why is the character costumization so primitive? 3.Why are there only 80 something new Pokemon? 4.Why do you keep taking away great features like the seasons and Pokemon following you? 5.Why is the story so bad as opposed to the prior standard of servicable? 6.Why isn't there finally voice acting? 7.Why are Pokemon fans so okay with this game?? |
1. I never played DQ8, but if by complaining about overhead system you mean by that when you walk around in the world you'd rather see the camera behind you more like a 3rd person instead of seeing the world overhead then I totaly disagree with you. The only time the camera in the game is 3rd person is in Lumiose city and a few caves and I hated it, made me eager to get out of these areas.
2. I don't care much about this. Sure there is a few questionnable choices like you being forced to wear a hat and that their is alot of choices but these choices are really the same cloths in different colors. As cloths go I think you'r being to harsh, but as far as creating you character at the start of the game I understand how you can feel cheated as a black guy.
3. I don't care about the number of pokémons. Alot of ppl complain that their is to many pokémons so adding fewer this time around feels reasonable. I'd be fine if every generations would add a similar number. Also the addition of Fairy type and Mega evolutions turned old pokémons into completely new pokémons in a sense that they are now used in ways they were never used before. My only complaints would be the legendarys. I felt that past game added way to many legendarys (like a whooping 10 in B/W), and that made them feel less special. I think gen1 and 2 had the perfect amount, like 4 or 5. Gen 6 only has 3 new legendary. Don't get me wrong, I'm fine with that number since it's way closer to the number in gen1and2, BUT Zygarde must be w/o a doubt the lamest worst final legendary in history of pokémon. He is so dull and lame and I can't believe that guy is the final legendary in the game, way to end with a flat... Xerneas and Yveltall are great tho, but the bottom line is that their is 2new good legendary and 1super lame one, but out of the two new legendary you can only use one so that makes 1 new legendary for us to use and that is disapointing.
4. Probably the way the world look now fully 3D would be way harder to make it totaly change depending on the seasons. While in previous games all it required is to change a few sprites. I honestly don't know but I don't care much. Tell yourself this, X/Y is a different continent as previous games, so maybe this continent is placed somewhere where it can't have 4seasons...
5. Your only complain I 100% agree with you. Team flare was a joke, with all their fashion talk, they looked like clowns. Impossible to take seriously as a bunch of villains and their involvement in the game was kinda minor compared to previous teams (altho I'm not complaining cause they were so lame, the less we see them the better). We also never really discovered the secret behind mega evolutions wich was a big deal during the game... And don't get me started on the Rival. I like my rival to be cocky and feel like he is always one step in front of me (making me defeat him feel even better), instead we get that amateur chick that is all about friendship and stuffs... And instead of taunting you she says stuffs like ''oh, I hope and will be as good as you someday''... 'Your are so good at pokémon battling, I'm so happy to have you as a rival''... ''No matter who wins we will always be friends''... She was pretty much the only one between the two of us who considered us rival, I saw her as that annoying chick who kept getting in my way. The other guys were also lame but I don't care since they were not my real rivals, but would have felt good if you saw them more often and if they made it feel like rivals. For example, if I toke Froakie, one would take Chespin, that one would be the evil cocky rival and the other one who toke Fennekin would be the dull rival that is all about friendship and unicorns... All three of us could move on our different quests and we would occasionaly meet eachother, at times I would meet the bad rival, other times it would be the good rival giving a sense of unpredicability.
Oh, and finaly the story that was all about friendship the whole game made me feel like I was playing a saturday morning cartoon show and made me embarassed as a full grown man. But I have to admit that the end when that giant dude finally reunited with his Flabébé was touching somehow.
6. I don't want voice acting in my pokémon. This game being all about friendship already felt to much like a kiddy cartoon, and that was with written text, now imagine with kiddy voice actors hired cause they have kid friendly voices. I'm not sure if I could go thru this game w/o shooting a bullet into my head. But if you mean voice acting for the pokémons instead of the loud noises they do, I'm all for it, but I read somewhere that Pikachu was the only one cause he is the only pokémon whos name and sound are identical in every language. So you would had to put a voice to every 700+ pokémon in every 10+ different languages.
7. Like many ppl said, graphics. I hate to say it since I find ppl who are all about graphics obnoxious but graphics are what convinced me to jump back into pokémon. Made the world feel way more alive. Also the super training made it finally easy to train your pokémons the way you want instead of that old EV training that was discouraging for many (including myself). The online also feels great when it comes to trading and battling. And finally, your complaints are for the most part to harsh and would bother only a minority of players. Personally only your complaint about the story affected me and I'm sure alot of ppl was fine with it. Overall it's a great pokémon game since what matters for many is the post game (by that I mean completing your pokedex and making your competive team to face other players, not the post game adventure wich was really lame in X/Y, get Zygarde in one cave, mewtwo in a other cave and that's it, when I think of it I should add this to my complaints)
