Why don't people like hard games anymore?

I prefer "easier" games cause I value fun and/or well paced playthrough for the story over the satisfaction of beating a very hard game, which comes after a big dose of frustration. It's that simple.

There is room for both though, and after beat the game on normal or hard for the "clear run" for story, I usually beat the game on it's hardest difficulty for the trophy.
