ZombiU, a medium-budget title, actually did fairly well when the Wii U launched, and to this day has over 10% marketshare on the Wii U. That is roughly equivalent to how a lot of sports games have done on the PS4 and One. And of course, you have the Monster Hunter 3 port, which did great for being a port of a years-old game, and LEGO City, which did even better. All three of these games are in the Wii U's top 10. So in short, games not made by Nintendo have a chance on the Wii U.

FIFA: 25.8% PS4 / 20.1% XBO
NBA: 12% PS4 / 13% XBO
Madden: 8.7% PS4 / 12.6%
NBA Live sold terribly

ZombiU 10.9%

Although I'm not really sure why you'd compare ZombiU to sports games.  For one, it has been out for a year longer and doesn't see an annual release that would cut off its legs like sports games do.  Two, it was bundled at various periods in the US and Europe.  Lastly, sports are fairly regional.  The PS4 selling a ton in Europe will only hurt Madden sales as a percent of the userbase.

Those three games being in the top 10 is more indicative of the low amount of software that Nintendo has developed for the Wii U.  Also the overall poor performance of software.  Not to mention that two of the games were published by Nintendo, and all three saw bundling.  The PS4 and XBO barrier to enter their top 10's is already higher with a year less on the market.  By April 2015 their number 10 games will probably be at least double the 486k a game currently needs to enter the Wii U's top 10.
