US have a reason to buy all 3 consoles however. Xbox is the most powerful brand coming off of last gen, PS4 is the popular new console and Wii U is Nintendo and the US have Nintendo nostalgia.
EU give little fucks about Xbox and the blunder they made with XBO didnt help, Nintendo nostalgia and Nintendo in general were never popular due to the NES and SNES never truly taking off over there, EU is Sonyland.
Japan give little fucks about console gaming, especially with the limited games targeted at them... its kinda that simple =P
They get there Nintendo fix on 3DS.
Last point to make. US has a high population of people with the dissposable income to pay for these kinds of luxuries, sales naturally should be higher
