Miriam will probably face some consequenses. Also, Hannibal certainly needed Chillton's case to not go to court, lest they discover how unlikely it for Chilton to have commited at least some of those murders alone (he already has an allibi for Abigail).

I think Jack's character is very braindead for a high-level FBI profiler, let's just say that if his real life counterparts are the same, it's no wonder that serial killers get away with killing for years.

He just fucking pounces on any lead, without putting much thought or research into it, resulting a train wreck.
