What is so ridiculous about my claims?

-People have shown in the past with CDs and today with Netflix that they prefer convenience and a lower price over quality. Physical media in general and Blu-Ray in particular are on their way out.  I agree that there is not yet an equivalent in terms of quality to BluRay, but it clearly never caught on like DVD did and never will.

Blu-ray sales are still growing year over year.
Overall (DVD+Blu-ray) sales are shrinking.

-Even Sony's own 4k push here in Japan is based on download, not Blu-Ray.

Blu-ray 4K spec is not ready for market yet, planned for a fall release. Sony wants to sell 4K tvs now, so ofcourse they're promoting downloads.

-Why so butthurt about 4k masters? If you master something in 4k and then shrink it down to 1080p, that is still just 1080p.

There is a big quality difference depending on the source, compare Samsara (65mm 8K scan, 4K master) with Lotr (35mm 2K master), difference is night and day. Supersampling works for movies as well as for games.

-Everyone I know, perhaps those "older folks" you mention are the exception, are moving to digital of some kind. I don't know a single person who still buys physical media for their movies and music. This is clearly the trend. Why else do you think that special features on Blu-Rays have essentially disappeared in the past year or two (along with music and video stores)? 5-10 years ago, most of my friends had at least a small DVD/Blu-Ray collection with their favorite films, some TV shows, and some recent films. That is simply not the case anymore.

I guess me and my friends are part of those older folks. I know no one who has switched to collecting digital movies and gave up buying blu-rays. Only the ones that didn't collect movies in the first place switched from renting to streaming.
Special features are still very much present. From the 10 blu-rays I bought in the last 2 months, only 2 didn't have special features.

My blu-ray collection is growing faster each year, I've added 25 movies to my collection so far this year. I watch most movies at least twice and love the extras as well. I try digital a couple times a year, it's always disappointing compared to blu-ray.

If you're waiting for Blu Ray reach the mainstream success of DVD, you're going to be waiting forever. By this point in DVD's life, VHS was kaput, yet DVDs still sell alongside Blu Ray, and digital is the way of the future.
