I'm pretty sure MS has a long term manufacturing contract with the foundry that makes the SoC/tof/camera chips. Not bundling the Kinect2 anymore would mean either fill a warehouse with Kinect2s or break the contract. Both versions would mean 9-digit $ penalties. So that is not an option.
Another marketing push costs lots of dough as well. MS has just lost a sh*tton of money with the huge Titanfall push (advertising, freebie software, inofficial pricecuts left and right).
The investor group that wanted to get rid of the whole XBox brand has not dissipated at all. They still want to see a positive outlook, and at this time they have not seen it. They might be in hibernation at this time, but whoever runs XBox plans now should not continue to throw too much money down the pit, or else...
