Not really. Smash is designed at its core as a 4 player local co-op experience. Kart is a singleplayer experience that works well in splitscreen. Also, the best selling/ most recent console MK sold 3 times as much as the best selling/ most recent Smash, so you're not really helping yourself with that analogy.

Um, yes really! The games are popular because of their multiplayer! And lol if you're really gonna try and tell me that Mario Kart is a single player game. Now if you're talking about MKWii vs Brawl, MKWii sold godlike because of the motion controls and Wii Wheel, but those have now lost their appeal, hence MK is back to Earth selling like the other top franchises as their sales on 3DS have proven. To say SSB4 can't sell similarly means your saying it's not as big a seller as Mario Kart, 3D Mario, etc., even though the series has sold as much or more than these others in past instances, like Melee vs Double Dash or Brawl vs Galaxy.
