Japan getting Wii U gamepad steering wheel for MK8

Why can't you just use Wiimote+Nunchuck, the Pro Controller, or the Gamepad? The latter-most option is the best option anyway!

I have a gamepad, 4 wiimotes and 1 nunchuck, and don't plan to buy anymore nunchucks or pro controllers.  As well, I would only play this game with my friends and kids and we all dislike playing using motion controlling and the wiimote+nunchuck combo.  So whoever has the gamepad would have the upperhand.  I can't see why Nintendo would be so stupid and not have the option of just using the D-pad for just the wiimote rather than using motion to steer.

Side note: Im left handed so I hate wii games that requires the wiimote+nunchuck combo where I need to use my right hand to point accurately at things. (I have to switch and put the wiimote on my left hand every time lol)
