If you're invested in single player games with various characters, worlds, gameplay styles and action packed stories buy with multiplayer as a secondary focus (but still strong focus) PS4. Also, if you're into a lot of games being made that take risk to make Sony is your best bet. You have the highest chance of one mans trash being your treasure with the choices you get on the Playstation brand. If you're a console graphics whore the PS4 is your best bet. The multiplats and exclusives will both be superior on the PS4.

If you are interested in competitive gaming with primarily a multiplayer view and less about new major stories and characters then the Xbox is for you. If you want a sure thing but less variation in your gaming (meaning less games creation that sticks overall) then the Xbox is your thing. Its primarily a competitive shooter console.

The PS4 (to me) edges out the Xbox One with the directional pad and the analogs feel very good. Everything on the Xbox one controller is very clicky and the directional pad (while being better than the 360's) feels cheap compared to the PS4. There isn't enough proper movement and is just very clicky. The Xbox one does feel better to hold though so that is a big redeeming factor, but you also have to take away for the fact that there is no spacing between the triggers and bumpers. It doesnt suit a player who games with four fingers on the top buttons.

Both consoles are pretty much equal when it comes to entertainment, both having Blu Ray and various apps. The Xbox Ones dashboard is more aesthetically pleasing, but harder to move through than the Ps4.
