Agreed.  I've always liked them and they've never been in MK before, making their inclusion welcome to me.

I do really want Diddy Kong in the game though, but seeing as how they're sticking to only the Mario universe it's likely wishful thinking on my part.

Diddy Kong has been in every home console MK since Double Dash, so I'd say he's more of an expectation than a hope. Nintendo has also used other non Mario-verse characters like R.O.B., Funky Kong, and Mii especially.
