I think people who can pick one single RPG as their favorite RPG haven't played enough RPGs.

Nah. They just haven't played Planescape: Torment. :)

I've played dozens of RPGs, PC and console, everything from NetHack to Might & Magic 6 to Chrono Trigger to obscure games like Kartia and Arc The Lad, and nothing comes close... except maybe Baldur's Gate 2

QFT, I've also played dozens of RPGs (it's my favorite genre) from jRPG's to MMORPG's, and everytime I hear someone name some game as having the best story the first thought that comes to my mind is "That guy has never played Planescape: Torment". How the hell can the Metal Gear Solid's story or any JRPG's story (or any other story) compare to PS:T's story and brilliant writing?

It's funny how the sole reason some people only play JRPGs is the stories, when WRPGs are the ones that have the best stories in the RPG genre: Planescape: Torment, Baldur's Gate 2, Fallout series, The Witcher... By the way, Planescape: Torment has possibly the best game character ever (Morte)

It's because of the way JRPG's tell the story. Even if Lost Odyessey's isnt the best story, it has by far the best execution. The way the camera is used for instance in cutscenes is second to none.
