Almost but not quite. It took me a while to understand why the numbers didn't match between this thread and the article but I figured out that the article has aligned global numbers which means PS4's Japan launch numbers are included in month 1 of the PS4 while the numbers in this thread compare Week 1 to Week 1, W2 to W2 etc...
Disregard previous comment as it makes no sense.
I did some more digging and the article uses these numbers :
For Wii, Launch (November 19th, 2006) to Week of March 31st: 5,838,056
For PS4, Launch (November 15th, 2013) to Week of April 5th: 6,894,071
Not sure I agree with the choice of data since the data for the PS4 total has 9 extra days (4 at the start, 5 at the end).
