Well "good" and "bad" are comparative adjectives and only work in direct comparisons. It's also hard to fairly judge a situation if you only have one choice. I'm pretty sure our grandparents thought life was fine without the Internet but that's just because they didn't know it back then. And I'm pretty sure the first cavemen were absolutely content with eating just raw meat.
So if you see it as standalone it's really just up to personal experience. You probably wouldn't say no to more support though. And you might think differently if you once had a higher level of support and then suddenly not anymore even though you were once content with it.
If you demand respect or gratitude for your volunteer work, you're doing volunteering wrong.
