Griffin = fail as usual
Mine is obviously Earthbound
Though my list is thus
1. Earthbound
2. Chrono Trigger
3. Final Fantasy 4
4. Final Fantasy 6
5. Final Fantasy 7

Sad isn't it? the day of the good RPG died with FF7 on PS1 which I would argue that FF7 itself killed it, it became so popular that all other RPGs wanted to be it, even the FF games after wanted to capture that popularity, but bottom line FF7 barely makes my top 5 as I have half a mind to put Paper Mario TTYD or Super Mario RPG in its place

Why don't you shut the fuck up maxwell, i never said anything about yours so don't say anything about mine.

Great way to act 12 but thats normal for you and like a 12 year old you have taste in bland and horrible games.

Edit to my list as someone reminded me.

1. Earthbound
2. Chrono Trigger
3. Final Fantasy 4
4. Secret of Mana
5. Final Fantasy 6

It's soooooo cool to hate FFX. It's popular for a reason brother. Look at all the other rpgs coming out at the same time. FFX was better than MOST in terms of: story, gameplay, graphics and music. If it wasn't so popular you wouldn't be calling it bland. Please don't make fun of other's opinions exspecialy when your's is a minority.

But FFX is bad. The story is mindless blather that's been regurgitated since the beginning of the SNES days (with a moderate pomo twist, that, all things considered, wasn't very good), the music was bland, the voice acting was terrible, the system gave you the illusion of choice with very little of the reality of it, it was linear as all crap, and the balance between story and gameplay was way off - too many endless, useless story scenes, but also too many points where you walk down giant, mostly empty battle-areas, with almost nothing to hook you in terms of neat twists.

So either my opinion of it was different because I've outgrown RPGs, or the standard for good RPGs has fallen through the floor.

Anyways, my three favorites are probably Final Fantasy VI, Chrono Trigger and Ogre Battle 64.

FFX is widely excepted as one of the greatest games of all time. This may make you dumbfounded, but in all due respect you've criticized FFX in areas that don't even pertain against it but for it. The music was grand, the story was very intriguing and great enough to make someone play FFX many times over. The most important thing about FFX is its presentation. I'll agree with you that the gameplay was oversimplified, even though you called it off balance with the story. But regardless, if the gameplay wasn't simple, FFX may not have impressed as many people otherwise. FFX was the first epic RPG for the PS2 and many people wanted an epic RPG. If the gameplay was too complex and deep, FFX may not have gone as well with some people's first impressions.

I'm sorry but I disagree to. I play every JRPG I can get my hands on, And in most RPG circles FF 8, 10 and 12 arent considered that good. Not bad but not great. 10 had a weak story. That's the main reason it wasnt amazing, also the level up system gave you no free will with your character progression. That wasnt a good choice.
