There was a time where Japanese game developers were the most competent developers for consoles. Now that PC and console specs can match closely American developers have become a big player in the console arena. Being inclusive to only Japanese developers really is not what nintendo should be doing especially if it wants to capture a bigger western audience and bigger piece of the pie. Nintendo after all is a business and businesses should thrive on sales and profit. Don't get me wrong nintendo makes the best platformers and certain adventure games but should try to appeal to other types of gamers too. |
Alright, now we got some points we can agree upon, I do understand the point you were trying to get across now. Nintendo should continue to invest more into western devs, that's simply because where the market is currently. Being inclusive to a now worldwide range of developers while keeping a solid focus that Nintendo is good at, is a great idea.
Nintendo is slow to change but I do think that are taking progressive steps forward in this direction with indie titles currently and I am optimisstic that program will expand in the future to allow other devs to work on games such as F-Zero, Starfox or Advance Wars, titles which have a demand backing them, but so far have seen little support from Nintendo for new titles.
