Not very surprising news. It's not like their just going to be picking their noses when a game is finished.

Nintendo are still stuck in the mind set of just throwing more Mario at something and expecting success. That only works so much and they've done it too often in recent years and now they've worn it out. NSMBU didn't shift WiiU consoles, Luigi U didn't shift consoles, 3DWorld didn't shift consoles...and their answer rather than "Hey lets try something NOT Mario" is "Well two Mario games and an expansion didn't work, lets try a third Mario game!".

The 'Mario Team' making a Mario game isn't exactly shocking. It's their job regardless, it's everything this particular group of people within the greater workforce employed by Nintendo do for a living. Nothing else.
