While the reason probably is the tax hike, it's not really that bad. People are just overreacting (in my opinion... and I'm poor. :P).
Tax went up by 3%, so in the case of a PS4 (the most expensive one on the list) sold at the SRP, this would mean a 1199 Yen increase. Not really a huge increase.
