I agree nintendo games are good for fun with friends, but every console should be rememebered for the new games and its innovations with new IP's/experiences, not just for the same old IP's with updgraded visuals/gameplay instead of introducing new games/experiences. But, for nintendo consoles its always same for each genration mario, donky kong, zelda and pokemon just with some upgrades to visuals and gameply instead of looking to create New IP's/experiences that can last for that generation. |
WOW. Such ignorance!
Have you even concidered that what people will remember the last gen for is Wii with the all new IP Wii Sports, or maybe Wii Fit? Or, like how we will remember the dual screen gameplay on the most popular gaming oriented device for it's gen, the DS? Oh and don't come and tell me that there ain't new hardcore IP's, cause there is. Xenoblade, TLS, Pandoras tower, Hotel Dusk etc.
Not to mention that the definition of "how a console should be remembered" is entirely yours. If a sequel is super fun to play and really good I don't see why that's less worthy than a new IP.
Also, Mario and Zelda both provided new "experiences" in the last gen. Motion controlls in Zelda, not to mention a very different layout of the game, and the DS Zelda's had touch based puzzles, something never seen in the series before. Mario, while still keeping it's core, evolved and gave us a very different experience with the galaxy games, and shows that an old IP can be just as good as a new one.
