I can only see three possible outcomes:

2. The system is discontinued and Nintendo regroups and releases a successor in 2015.

3. The system is discontinued and Nintendo goes multiplatform on home consoles.

Umm.. 3DO... Seriously?

#3 is an option of last resort. In between then, they're likely to absorb other companies.
