I think a more relevant number would be "one-third." Based on MS's own numbers, some two-thirds of 360 owners are connected to XBL (coincidentally — or not — nearly a third of U.S. households don't have broadband access). Of those two-thirds, half are connected to XBL Gold. This means only about a third of 360 owners have XBL Gold. While early XBO adopters are probably more likely to have XBL Gold, as time goes by we might see a majority of XBO owners not subscribed to Gold. If the majority of your system's user base cannot play a game because it requires a service they either cannot or will not get, then that really limits the game's sales potential. Had Titanfall not been online-only, I think it could have sold better than it did. So long as millions of gamers either are unable or unwilling to play online, there's still going to be plenty of room for games with single-player modes and local multiplayer.

it could have "sold better than it did"? I didn't realize we were talking about some historical game of titanfall, not a brand new game that released and instantly had a 25% attach rate on it's only release system. (and hasn't released on the 360 yet)
